Q1: Where yo daddy at?

I don't condemn a Sexyy Red or a Dr. King for their mistakes (because none of us are Jesus-incarnate). But by the decisions some of us make, it begs the question.

Earthly fathers are meant to be a covering. Protectors, providers, enforcers of boundaries for children. Our Heavenly Father is perfect, but unfortunately, some of us have no point of reference for a father's love. This leaves miseducated, unprotected children to take their cues from a fallen world. Some of us operate from a place of ignorance. Some are prodigal sons/daughters and some have statuses "pending" as children of God (John 1:12). But the Lord offers His love, guidance, and many teachable moments.

Q2: Why do some of us never hear, "You look just like yo daddy?"

All that some of us ever hear is, "You smell like outside." Your spirit is musty when you spend more time in the world, than in the house. This world will mold you. It changes your countenance, your mannerisms, your behavior... In the same way that we share the DNA (nature) of our earthly parents and learn from their behavior (nurture), we ought to look more and more like our Heavenly Father if we have the same blood as His Son and stay in His presence.

When we are out of the will of God, we step outside of His covering. (Get in the house! (Psalm 122:1) We leave ourselves open to the influence of the world and also give access to the enemy. But remember, even when we feel too far gone, we have a Heavenly Father who is still calling, still drawing, still washing, and still loving His creation.

We still have a home and are not too grown for the course to be corrected.
